Fundrasing For Ysgol Crug Glas

‘The Cash For Kids Appeal’ provides support for local children who need help… and without such generous donations, this just wouldn’t be possible.

They have supported local Childrens’ Charities in Neath, Port Talbot, and Carmarthenshire such as The Kids Cancer Charity, NPT Crossroads, SNAC, local schools, childrens’ wards and NSPCC Cymru to name a few and our little school, here in the heart of Swansea were fortunate enough to be this years’ recipients to their fantastic fundraising efforts with an Amazing £17,000 so very kindly raised at this years’ ‘Cash for Kids Ball’.

The aim of the school is to use this money towards the much needed renovation of our Sensory light room… we are involving pupils in decision making via our School Council so that they are an integral part of the choices made, ensuring their voices are heard and we provide an area that with benefit every pupil here at Ysgol Crug Glas.

Not only have we been so kindly gifted money from Cash for kids, but St James’ Place have also generously donated £10,000 towards the school. This will be used on much needed refurbishments around the school.

So from all here at Ysgol Crug Glas, we want to say a MASSIVE thankyou to everyone who was involved in raising this amazing and kind donation!!

School Council Meeting W/E: 15.11.19

Eco School Council meeting Monday 11th November.

Eco Council members with their potatoes.

Indigo and Violet classes were asked if they could start counting the pink and green bags that are collected each week. The evidence could be in the form of photos or a bar graph, and would show how good we are at recycling.

Indigo, violet and blue classes have all had a go at monitoring lights in classrooms and keeping track of classes that are not Switching Off when they leave the room. It seems that most classes do Switch Off as and when they should so the survey has been dropped for the time being.

Potato Day will be on Wednesday 20 November. Each council member was given an earthy potato to take back and share with the class. We will have sensory activities and potato sports on the day, prior to that each class will need to cook something with potatoes to share.

All minutes of the Eco Committee and their Eco activities are now to be found on the notice board by the hall and on the school website.
